The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center

The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center was first opened in 1933 as a United States Post Office. The building itself attracted visitors from near and far to marvel at its unique architecture and ornate, decorative details. In the 1960s it was then transformed into a federal courthouse. It wasn’t shortly after that, a new courthouse was built from scratch right around the corner, and the current building was closed down and vacated by 1998. Through years of deterioration from water infiltration, normal wear and tear, the building fell into disrepair and much of the original fixtures were removed or destroyed. In 2003, Jim Griffith and Florida Arts, Inc. the operator of Sidney Berne Davis Art Center acquired a 99-year lease on the building. With the lease being granted, a grant of $350,000 by A Division of Historical Resources, it was to be determined that the building was to be restored to its magnificence, while creating a modern arts facility. 

The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center was opened September 10th, 2009 and to this day has 10,000 square feet of building that has been restored and continuously provides world-class arts programming to the community. Currently SBDAC hosts events (weddings, art shows, and corporate parties), Music Walks, Art Walks, children summer art camps and so much more.
